Important Notice: Marina Medical Centre has further enforced the preventive measures on Novel Coronavirus infection.

 

In response to the latest development of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19),  our Infection Control Committee is formulating related actions to enhance our infection control measures. Visitors and medical staffs, are required to have body temperature checked, and fill out the travel declaration. All personnel are required to wear surgical masks while inside our clinic, and hand sanitisers are available for use. For our visiting patients who have travelled to China or South Korea recently, please contact our customer service at +852 3420 6622 or info@marinamedical.hk to reschedule your appointment.

 

When an individual found fulfilling the reporting criteria of “Severe Respiratory Disease associated with a Novel Infectious Agent”, we will isolate the suspected case, transfer the suspected case to public hospital for further investigation and carry out thorough disinfection of the clinic afterwards.

Centre for Health Protection (CHP) updates on viral pneumonia cases occurring in Wuhan

 

The number of viral pneumonia cases occurring in Wuhan has been increasing and CHP has received reports of a total of 135 suspected cases fulfilling the reporting criteria in Hong Kong (as of 22 January 2020, 12:00 noon) since 31 December 2019. At the moment, there is no vaccine for this infectious disease. Public should maintain good personal hygiene at all times and keep both hands clean to prevent pneumonia and respiratory tract infection. Prevention tips and information regarding the infection is available on CHP website.

The Government-subsidised Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme has been regularised and will be extended to asymptomatic Hong Kong residents aged between 50-75 in phases. Centre for Health Protection (CHP) suggested prevention of 100-day cough

 

Numbers of 100-day cough patient has reached a 21-year high in Hong Kong, and there were a total of 110 people suffered from the disease last year. Department of Health’s Centre for Health Protection (CHP) suggested that pregnant women shall receive the vaccine shot against the disease before giving birth to pass on the effect to the baby in the womb. Please be rest assured that our stock is NOT from Sanofi, we are exclusively using the Influenza Vaccines from GSK, which is safe and the supply is normal. Low diagnosed and treatment rate of Hong Kong’s hepatitis C sufferers

 

According to an estimated result from a study, "only half of the Hong Kong's hepatitis C sufferers have been formally diagnosed and just 12 per cent have received treatment." The number is indeed below the diagnosed rate compare with the target set by World Health Organization. In fact, the virus causes liver damage and some patients may develop a chronic form of the disease. Yet, treatments are available after diagnosis. A total of 914 Rubella cases were reported in Japan in the past six weeks. Hong Kong Centre for Health Protection is warning travelers to exercise caution when visiting Japan, especially for pregnant women and women preparing for pregnancy. Influenza Vaccine (Vaccination Subsidy Scheme)

 

Vaccination can help us develop our immunity and protect us against diseases, Hong Kong government recommends person who aged over 6 months to get influenza vaccine for seasonal influenza protection.

 

Influenza vaccine is now available at our clinic. Under the Vaccination Subsidy Scheme (VSS) 2018/19, subsidised seasonal influenza vaccination will be provided to eligible Hong Kong residents starting from 10th Oct, 2018.
